While I'm On a Roll (and my lunch-break)

Confused? Terry certainly is:

The Police is a job like any other and they should be allowed to strike, I expect Free Marketeers to support me here, what is the point of going into a job and then saying hey ! I'm special, this is dangerous when you knew that before you went in.

What? The police, if I recall it correctly, are objecting to the fact that the pointless waste of space now occupying the Home Secretary's office refused to follow the rules the government set up - set up because the police cannot strike. What this has to do with free markets is anybody's guess. What this has to do with the police's job being dangerous is anybody's guess.

For the record, I believe that:
  • People in certain public safety roles should not be permitted to strike. This includes the Police and the Armed Services and should be extended to the bloody Fire Brigade.
  • The right to withdraw your labour from an employer, which could be seen as an essential part of a free market, is an individual one. The 'right' to strike is both collective and coercive, hence is beloved of interfering statist fools, like Terry.
And another thing, himself addressing one of our own:

I’m not bigoted or prejudiced against anyone nor do I hate anyone, not even you.

Conveniently, I found this entirely relevant post:

remember the words of the song ? 'I've never met a nice South African'
and this:

I think he tells his family that he is a slave trader rather than admit to the shame of being a Herald journalist.

and, of course, this:

Councillor Kelly maintains his own personal website which included a recent exchange with a female visitor who asked: "Why are no women allowed to comment here? You've mentioned one being banned, you've called a black woman a liar for talking about racism but then no others have been allowed to comment. Councillor, are you a sexist?"

Councillor Kelly responded: "You have just perfectly demonstrated why, it's because they are thick."

RFS has already posted regarding this but we can see, from the few examples above that much of Terry's ouvre does indeed smack of bigotry, prejudice and hate. And this is without extracting any of his Palestine / Israel bleating.

And, just in case any Kelly-esque duvet covers (well, you wouldn't get many of them in a sock puppet, would you?) wish to pretend to contribute to the debate, yes, the whole point of this site is to make fun of a public figure who we loath. We don't hypocritically claim otherwise.

Consistency, Dear Boy

Our Hero, that great un-appointed champion of the homosexual community, lays in to Ann Widdecombe:

She want's to give bigotry am exemption when it involves gays, when it's them you can say what you want, a lovely woman.

...

I hope that at the next election that people will remember that people like Ann Widdicome are still in the Tory Party and vote accordingly.

I assume that he means, "Do not vote Tory, they are nasty people". However, in the very next paragraph he says:

Unfortunately and embarrassingly the amendment was seconded by Jim Dobbin Labour and a handfull of Labour MP's supported it.

Now, he whitters on about deselection but what he really should have said, if he was to have any credibility, was (as pointed out by Will):

I hope that at the next election that people will remember that people like Jim Dobbin are still in the Labour Party and vote accordingly.

I am afraid, Terry, that we are a little bit more concerned about Brown, Browne, Darling and Alexander and the rest of the statist crooks and liars than the mostly harmless Member for Heywood and Middleton.

But the best bit of traditional Terry is this (and I am afraid I was beaten to it by an anonymous commentator on the bilious one's blog):

This is the same woman who, when in the Home Office under that other caring chap Michael Howard thought it proper to have young women prisoners who were pregnant chained to the bed while in Labour, it's difficult to write that, stand back and consider what was going on, and further consider that she thought it OK.

Now, whilst being female and pregnant, even in labour, doesn't automatically stop you from absconding from your duly imposed sentence of imprisonment, I considered, as many people did at the time, this proposal of then Tory government was extremely unpleasant (and we should stump up for the additional prison officer resource to allow greater dignity at such times. ) However as Terry phrases it, I am entirely in favour of prisoners, regardless of their sex or gravidity, being chained to the bed while they remain in the Labour Party, as Terry's good mate Tommy may shortly be in a position to demonstrate.

And I'm not even going to start on the spelling and grammar. Edited to add - except as regarding her name. See comments.

And back to Tommy

News has reached me that Tommy Williams is to be charged by the police with regards to his alleged fraud. When this happens he should do a Hain and step down from the council

My source has expressed sympathy with one Raymond Bell who was sacked along with Tommy. Apparently this man has a young family and inherited the Williams "arrangement" being told that this is how things were done and that Tommy had squared it with the Finance people. In the end the two of them carried the can because Tommy's department at GCC decided that they had had enough of doing Tommy's job for him and blew the whistle. Bell is said to be devastated as it has been 3 years since he was last in charge of Tommy and all concerned have recognised that he had no financial or political gain from the arrangement. I doubt Terry plead for Bell's job.

I am sure that all of us at TerryWatch wish Raymond and his family all the best and regret that he has ended up in this position.

Terry still lacking self-awareness

The link will take you to his latest oddity, an attack on the Herald, and in particular Iain MacWhirter, who he accuses of being an SNP cheerleader.

He appears to have issues with some of the conclusions MacWhirter reached in his column on party funding, and wrote a letter to reply. It seems the letter hasn't been published, and Terry is not a happy bunny:

I wrote on the 16/01/08 and nothing has been printed. I think it's a pretty valid question but the mighty Herald seems to be afraid of it, is it any wonder that many people consider this paper a busted flush, what should we make of it ?

This, of course, from the King of the Inconsistent Comments Policy. Is he that eager to get back at the paper (they went published his sexist rant, remember) that he's forgotten one of his many major flaws? Is it just another case of Terry failing to look at the whole picture before he starts ranting?

Or is Terry just being a hypocritical bastard for the 1,954,217th time?

Terry lacking basic self-awareness

Terry post: "People who are waiting right now for a vital transplant for themselves or for a loved one will be saying, 'thank God or our lucky stars for Gordon Brown and everyone else who supports him on this. "

Commenter (ahem) pointing out the government does not have a right to your body.

Kelly comment followup: "Over the past couple of years as a blogger this is probably the most awful, twisted thing I’ve read. I think you will find that it gets support from every side and apart from people like you who are prepared to stoop low enough to try to make political capital out of it,"

Dear god.

UPDATE: He is now claiming that the fact he said (and everybody who supports him on this" shows that he is not trying to make political capital out of it as it is a shared victory. So why mention the government at all? Unless it is to make sure people know who to thank I guess.

Terry the Google Game

Under Clarewil's post about her laughing so much she split her sides I read some comments from Dennis and Alex that made me think of a new game.

Rules are simple.

Google a phrase about Terry - Say "Terry is bad for the Middle East" and note the number of hits returned, now compare that to search to another person of infamy in the world like "George w Bush is bad for the Middle East".

The object is to find a phrase where Terry comes out better. Results to be posted in the comments and the best one will win the Guido t-shirt I will win for a Friday caption contest at some point.

Poor Tommy Williams! - The Sequel

As regular readers will be aware almost a year ago I caught a 10 second article on the STV news which told me that 5 Renfrewshire councillors had been reported to the police regarding expenses fraud. Having hunted the story on the STV news site I wrote it up either here or at my blog (cannot find the link, if someone knows where it is can you send it onto me?)

Terry was at first so hesitant to comment and deny it that we honestly thought that either he or his daughter were among the 5 unnamed that were subject to the report. However we then realised that this crime required intelligence, patience and concentration.

It turned out that Terry had thrown his lot in with a man called Tommy Williams, ousting Iain McMillan from being the second Ferguslie candidate for May 2007. After those disastrous elections McMillan was the unexpected choice for leader of the group in the council and Terry found himself in the awkward position of having pissed off the leader and made him look for another seat. How unfortunate.

The agitation against the new regime started almost immediately with most people noting that devout Celtic fan Kelly seemed to hate Blue Nose McMillan for reasons that went beyond simple politics.

In November Terry and Tommy (now operating in a group of 2) absented themselves from a full council meeting for reasons they never fully explained. Given that former Glaswegian trouble maker Jim Sharkey had not been heard of for a month previous to this their absence ensured that the full council meeting only had 14 Labour members present, down significantly from their high number a year previous. Following this meeting a Labour councillor contacted me to inform me that this was clearly an attempt to destabilise McMillan.

Yet the next month Terry duly trooped into the full meeting before Christmas and did what he was told. In the intervening month his co-conspirator had been fired from his job in Glasgow City Council and was under police investigation. Terry had backed Williams to be leader of the group post-May and remained loyal to him, even so far as allowing him into the safe Ferguslie super-ward.

Now we have what must be the beginning of the end game for Williams. The Labour Party have duly suspended him following his dismissal from his job and criminal investigation. Information received indicated that charges are due to filed against him any day now and the party are clearly distancing themselves in the kind of fraternal gesture that socialists are so keen on.

With Sharkey still battling his demons in a bottle this gives the Labour group a roll call of 15. If the Lib Dems had accepted the pleas of the Labour Group in May and went into an alliance with them there would now be a hung council. As it is we will now see if the remaining members have the strength of character to weather what is going to be a torrid year or if they will continue to eat themselves.

Poor Tommy Williams!

One of the many wonderful things about friends is that they are there for you in times of trouble and if you're lucky you'll benefit from their help and advice. If on the other hand your friend is Terry Kelly then God help you!

Blogger Tartan Hero brings us the frankly hilarious story of Terry's cack handed intervention in the Tommy Williams expenses row.

Treat yourself it's an absolute belter!

I Don't Think I Can Laugh Anymore......

I have been staring death in face in the form a very nasty virus/cold/curse over the last few days and naturally have been feeling very sorry for myself.

So imagine my delight and surprise as I crawled from my sick bed to poke about the internet to find Terry is a media sensation! I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in all my days.

As noted below The Herald are on to it but they are joined by many others, too many to list here but here's a few for your amusement The Midlothian Advertiser, The Paisley Daily Express
and The Scotsman. As you'll see the vast SNP conspiracy has many tentacles.

Of course it's not just the mainstream media, bloggers have been covering Terry's run in with the ladies; The Burning Times, Holyrood Chronicles and The Lone Voice. Again that's just the tip of the iceberg. Googling Terry has never been so much fun.

I did not lie about Terry - for the record

Terry has refused to publish my comments under my own name because he claims that I lied about him. Alas I did not and no amount of bleating can change that. I made an allegation and he retorted by saying something like "the next comment you make will tell us all about you". But because my next comment was not a grovelling apology he has simply cut me off. I am hurt.

For the record the "lie" I told about him was that he missed a full council meeting (a verifiable fact that he admits) and I reported that his own colleagues on the Labour group are now in agreement that this was an attempt to show that the MacMillan leadership have lost control of the group. If Terry thinks this is a lie then may I suggest that he takes this up with his party colleagues on the council - after all it was one of them who told me!!!!!

However it is now somewhat unfortunate that Terry chose to hitch his wagon to Tommy Williams. It was the two of them who absented themselves on the same day for maximum effect despite being seen in the council building before and after the meeting. However given the proximity of K Division headquarters to the council I suspect that Williams was simply there to help the police with their enquiries.

Terry unable to grasp reality of his life

You have to love Terry and one of his festive moments:

I've publicly crossed swords with John Reid, Margaret Curren, even Gordon
Brown before he was famous, the Scottish Labour Executive etc. but none of it
personal. We all survived it and are still here, that's as it should be
surely.

Lets go over that again. He has publicly argued with ex-Defense Secretary and current Celtic Chairman Dr. John Reid, ex-Scottish Minister for Parliamentary Business Margaret Curran, current Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the Labour National Executive.

Renfrewshire councillor Terry (currently out of favour with the Renfrewshire Labour group for agitating against the leader) believes that when they had those arguments they all emerged as equals and there has been no repercussions.

Oh how I laughed at that one.

UPDATE: I almost missed the fact that the SNP are apparently united in Frear. Good to have the old illiterate Terry back with us for the new year.
